Frequently Asked Questions
Can I be hypnotized?
Yes, of course! Have you ever had the common experience of driving home, and suddenly found you had arrived, not remembering details of the drive? That is an example of the natural hypnotic state. You have also already been hypnotized anytime you watched an enjoyable movie, or read a good book. Hypnosis is a normal and natural state of mind that everyone has already experienced. Actually, it's such a normal state of mind that most people do not realize they are hypnotized.
All you need to do to go into a state of hypnosis is to be willing and able to follow simple, gentle instructions for reaching a state of focused awareness.
Will I reveal too much when I am hypnotized?
Hypnosis is not a truth-serum or other drug. You are in charge and you are letting yourself be hypnotized. As a result, your own mind determines how much or how little you wish to contribute to a hypnosis session. You can freely answer and not answer questions in a hypnotic state, just as you do in a wide-awake one. Our office follows HIPAA guidelines for notes and storage.
Can a hypnotist make me do something I do not want to do? Is it safe?
You are in control. You allow the hypnotist to guide you into your deeper and broader memory and other resources. No one can hypnotize you against your will. You are free to reject and receive any suggestion at any time.
Hypnosis is safe. It is a perfectly normal and common state of mind we go into naturally every day. You enter hypnosis regularly when daydreaming or watching a compelling movie. During these activities, you remain consciously aware and in complete control, just as you do when a professional hypnotherapist assists you in entering into a state of hypnosis.
Who will hypnotize me?
Our practitioners are all certified hypnotists, registered with the National Guild of Hypnotists and/or International Certification Board for Clinical Hypnotherapists and are licensed with the State of Washington.
Rest assured that you will be treated with professionalism and respect, and your visits are completely confidential.

Can hypnosis be used to reduce pain from illness or injury?
Pain is a warning that something is wrong with the body, and the cause should be diagnosed by someone qualified to do so. You should only seek hypnotherapy for pain management after receiving the appropriate referral from your primary health care professional. With appropriate referral, hypnosis to reduce pain has a good track record.
Note: this is also called hypnotic pain management. If you wish to explore the use of hypnosis to reduce your pain, ask your personal physician to provide you with a referral.
I don’t live near Tacoma. Can I still work with you?
Yes! Our hypnotherapy services are available remotely via HIPAA compliant online video platform. It is simple to use, and you can book online.
Why is a credit card is required to request or schedule my one-hour free consultation?
Our hypnotists’ time is valuable, and no-show appointments are quite disruptive to our business. If you need to cancel your consultation or hypnosis session for any reason, you must notify us at least 24 hours in advance, by text, phone or email, or a $50.00 cancellation fee will be charged to the card on file for missed consultations, and a $100 fee for missed hypnosis sessions.
